Amanda Knox movie

For some reason I was on a Netflix kick and I watched the movie about Amanda Knox and how she was convicted of killing her roommate in Italy. It's insane how the media is always there and can take words out of context and run with it. In the movie they called it a "trial of media ". The media makes judgements before she even went to trial and the media made her guilty before anything was even decided on.

Baltimore

I was watching an interview about the Baltimore riots and they were referring to the people as thugs. I'm my opinion I don't understand why everything is made into a race issue. I understand that it started because a black man died. I don't think it was necessary for the reporter to compare calling the people "thugs" and calling them the N word. I couldn't believe that they even said that word on TV but I also can't believe that someone would think those two things are the same. If my child was out causing riots and acting like the people in Baltimore then I would call my child a thug too

Jodi Arias movie

The other night I was looking on Netflix for something to watch and I came across the movie about Jodi Arias and the trial that came after she murdered her ex boyfriend. One of the arguments in the movie was how the media really drove the trial. In my opinion she definitely murdered him because she was jealous and had slashed his tires and even threatened his current girlfriend at the time. The media seemed to have the same conclusion as I did because they thought she was guilty from the start. She was ultimately convicted of murder and the media had a field day saying that she was heartless and crazy and murdered her boyfriend.

Gas Prices in America

Here in the United States, we are enjoying the falling gas prices, but imagine a life in Russia where the value of the ruble has lost 57% of its value versus the U.S. dollar since the start of 2014. Believe me, I am not one to argue about paying less at the pump, but I think we are all kidding ourselves if we actually believe that this will last.

As we continue to see the price of gas drop in the States, we also see a huge boost to the U.S. economy and a huge pile of cash in the pockets of U.S. consumers. What we do not see is what is happening in the Motherland. Currently, 1 ruble is worth $0.16 and is helping none what-so-ever of the impending doom of a Russian economy collapse and future recession.

With the war raging on in the Ukraine with no real end in sight, to the south-west, Spain was counting on rich Russians to help revive its stricken property market by buying homes on its sunny coasts, until the ruble collapsed on falling oil prices and the Ukraine crisis.

I am left with this little piece of advice: "Caution is wise". We will see a bounce with gas prices. International economies rise and fall, but how will we see gas prices rise? Will it be due to restrictions on how and when we can drill? Or will it be due to rationing laws during a time of war? We will just have to wait and see.

Blocking out social media

When I was thinking about closing off all my ties to my phone it made me nervous. I think so many times I use my phone way to much and I use it as a crutch. If I am in an awkward situation I go on my phone. If I am bored I go on my phone. If I am walking somewhere I am on my phone. Many times I need to tell myself to put my phone down because I need to stop focusing so much on social media and texting and more on what is in front of me. When my husband and I go out to dinner we try and turn our phones over and on the table so that we can't see if we get a message or a phone call so that we are just there in the moment together. For this week's challenge of not looking at social media or texting I didn't last long at all. As soon as I woke up I forgot and was on my phone. Also my husband is off at work all day and I am at home so I am constantly texting him and playing on my phone. Even at school when I am in class it is hard to keep my phone in my bag and not look at it because I am so used to always having it in my hand. I can't imagine what the future of technology holds because if we are so focused on it now, where will we be in 10 years?
